News

03/6/09

The 'C' Team celebrated their promotion to Division 2 on Saturday with a 'C' Team social in Manchester. The club AGM will happen on Sunday (7th June) presumably in the bar at Seal Road. Time to be confirmed.

06/05/09

There will be no club night on March 8th or March 15th because of the tournaments. The A Team & C Team matches on Sunday 15th March have been moved to March 1st instead.

16/2/09

The A Team & C Team matches on Sunday 15th March have to be re-arranged because of the tournament (I hear).

09/2/09

The A Team have Carrington in the Messer quarter-final, away on either Monday February 23rd or March 9th. If they win they'll go on to play Bramhall or Racketeer A in the semi final.

06/12/08

I think everyone enjoyed the Xmas social at Chiquitas on Friday night! Thirteen people attended and thanks very much to Social secretary Mona for organising that.....

This Sunday (7th Dec) is a very rare club night (no matches whatsoever)!

Please put your name down on Derek's list if you wat to play in the club handicap tournament on Sunday 21st

The Christmas Tournament will take place Sunday 23rd  December - it's very important to let Derek know in advance if you are playing!

The Christmas Social will take place on Friday 14th December - in Cheadle Hulme at the Rainbow 88 Chinese restaurant (7.30pm). So far we have 10 people coming. Meanwhile here's another stab at our ever-changing teams....

Tournaments

The League Tournaments are played at Bramhall Recreation Centre, Seal Road, Bramhall.

The Open (November)

Open Section is open to all players
B Section  is open to players in Division 1 or lower
C Section is open to players in Division 4 or lower
To enter the SuperVets Section you must be at least 50 by previous 1st September.

The tournament is seeded and each match is the best of 3 (to 15 points except ladies singles which is 11) and you can set if you want to....

The Handicap (March)
Players must have played at least 4 matches for their club (this can be waived sometimes)
The tournament is not seeded and handicaps are decided by committee
To enter the Veterans Section you must be at least 40 by previous 1st September.
A match is the best of 3 games to 15 points (11 for ladies singles) no setting even if you want to.

The Paine Plate is played  by couples knocked out of the Mixed Doubles in the first round.
There is also a 'Family Mixed' event.

The Messer Trophy
Handicapped tournament played through out the season in two sections: 'A' for Premier and Divisions 1-3 and 'B' for the rest. Each mixed doubles pair only plays one game (to 21) instead of the usual 2, so the match is the best of 15.

The Midway Summer Tournament
Teams are composed of 4 players (2 men and 2 ladies). From what I can remember each person plays 4 games (2 levels and 2 mixed). A prize is awarded for the winning team and also for the team that came 'midway' up the table (get it???!)

Also, don't forget the Syddal club tournament on a Sunday December (23rd in 2007).
